Generalist Services

Tanya offer’s a face to face, appointment based generalist counselling service for people who are not sure where to start or who want to discuss multiple or complex problems.

Therapy Sessions

Therapy sessions consist of employing an ‘experiential approach’, which focuses on assisting clients to gain better insight into ‘the here and now’, by learning more about their current feelings and situations.

Generalist counselling can assist with problems people may be experiencing such as:

  • Attitudes and beliefs related to relationships, intimacy, sexuality and lifestyle
  • Life transition and adjustment issues
  • Personal growth and understanding
  • Self esteem
  • Anxiety, stress or depression
  • Problem solving
  • Managing emotions
  • Social and communication skills
  • Self-regulation and self-management skills
  • Provide individual and group based intervention
  • Provide professional consultation regarding treatment pathways and options for clients

The Theoretical Framework

The theoretical framework that informs the clinical practice is the strengths based approach. Tanya has utilised a narrative therapy approach within her clinical practice and believes that her clients are the experts of their own lives and situations and therefore have many skills, abilities, values, commitments, beliefs and competencies, which will assist them in changing their relationship with the problems that are currently impacting their lives.

Therapy sessions are holistic in nature and based on the idea that by working collaboratively with her clients they are able to build on their capabilities and strengths which will assist them in identifying healthy ways in which they can meet their goals and move towards having their mental, physical and emotional needs met.
