The theoretical framework that informs the clinical practice is the strengths based approach. Tanya has utilised a narrative therapy approach within her clinical practice and believes that her clients are the experts of their own lives and situations and therefore have many skills, abilities, values, commitments, beliefs and competencies, which will assist them in changing their relationship with the problems that are currently impacting their lives. Therapy sessions are holistic in nature and based on the idea that by working collaboratively with her clients they are able to build on their capabilities and strengths which will assist them in identifying healthy ways in which they can meet their goals and move towards having their mental, physical and emotional needs, met.
The therapeutic approach that Tanya uses within clinical practice, is that of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). Cognitive behaviour therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps people to change unhelpful or unhealthy thinking habits, feelings and behaviours.
